We take responsibility for the safety of Lotte food and products through hygiene management and accident prevention.

Hygiene Audit
In order to ensure the safety of all parts directly consumed by consumers, a comprehensive hygiene inspection (Audit) is conducted at the factories of food manufacturers and partners and stores of distributors. Through activities of inspecting the food safety system, prior risk management, and prevention of recurrence afterward such as HACCP and ISO/FSSC 22000, etc., we ensure food safety at all stages from raw material handling to product production and distribution. Through the development of “HiGenie” which enabled traditional on-site inspections and application-based online inspections, and “Smart Monitoring System”, an automated record management system, we are conducting more thorough inspections based on data.

Quality Audit
We manage the safety and quality of non-food products sold in Lotte’s distribution network, including department stores, marts, supermarkets, and Lotte ON. We conduct quality inspection and management from development to release and play a leading role in securing product safety and reducing customer complaints. We are in charge of product safety management at Lotte Group distributors, such as operating an unsafe product-blocking system by introducing RPA technology.

Hazard Analysis
We analyze and manage physical, chemical, and biological hazards in order to block and prevent unsuitable distributed products in advance. We are preemptively responding to issues by analyzing hazardous substances that are mixed or generated through various routes during the manufacturing and production process and establishing analysis methods for unregulated substances in advance. In addition, through microbiological tests such as food sanitation indicator bacteria and food poisoning bacteria, we block/take action on unsuitable products and conduct on-site hygiene inspections and improvements.

Standard Management
We establish safety management standards and systems and support consulting to strengthen group-wide food safety management capabilities. By supporting government certification-related tasks such as HACCP certification and eco-friendly certification, and establishing integrated good hygiene management standards (L-GHP, LOTTE Good Hygiene Practice), we contribute to food hygiene and safety management. In addition, we conduct sanitation management that reflects the vulnerability of each food type and the specificity of the season, and based on this insight, we support food safety management consulting for our partners.

Safety Education
We plan and conduct internal and external training to improve the food safety capabilities of group food companies and distributors, as well as workers in the domestic food industry. We have produced more than 1,000 trainees by operating the food safety academy education curriculum for group food workers, and are building a smart food safety culture by utilizing the Metaverse education space, Lotte Meta Edu Vill, and VR content. In addition, as part of food company capacity reinforcement and ESG, free training is provided to domestic food manufacturing workers to raise awareness of the importance of hygiene management and contribute to the overall market.
