    Bio

    We explore functional materials derived from natural products. We are conducting functional material research based on LRNC(Lotte R&D Natural product Collection) developed by Lotte R&D Center. We are leading the development of high value-added individually recognized functional food set for mid-long term business strategy through application test, functional/safety assessment, licensing and approval by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, etc.

    Fermentation

    By isolating useful microorganisms from traditional fermented foods, we establish our own strain DB, LRCC(Lotte R&D Culture Collection) system, and manage strains used for research and group food companies. In addition, we are conducting functional verification to develop probiotics and postbiotics materials and securing scientific grounds for preclinical and clinical studies. Recently, we are enabling data-based commercialization through Smart-Lab, and an automated culture system and we are also conducting stability studies for each formulation so that it can be applied to various product groups through high-yield fermentation optimization research and internalization of metabolite separation and purification technology.

    Analysis

    We research technology for screening and controlling various microorganisms related to food quality. In addition, using various high-tech equipment contributes to the production of trusted products, as it verifies the safety of labels, materials, and products. Furthermore, we are continuing research to support future food industries, such as microbiome and alternative foods, using the latest technology such as RT-PCR, and NGS, and are preemptively developing technologies to secure safety against potential hazards such as microplastics and nanoparticles.

    Material

    We discover new materials in various fields such as flavor and physical properties, functional materials, and alternative materials. We are preemptively discovering and nurturing materials needed for the future by conducting screening and validation. We are not limited to simply developing the material itself, but by considering the development stage and securing product applicability and stability, we are providing practical help to research product development that will lead the new market. Even for applied materials, we not only constantly conduct quality stabilization work, but also take responsibility to secure IP and certification for the material.

    Application

    We play a role in improving quality and adding value by applying research results based on various technologies to products. We are conducting research to objectify subjective sensory characteristics such as taste, scent, and texture through advanced analysis equipment such as an electronic nose, electronic tongue, electronic eye, electronic ear, and TA (Texture Analyzer), and to objectify emotion through brain wave analysis. By doing this, we objectively present directions for improvement from raw materials to finished products and support the development of the best products that consumers want. In addition, to enhance the nutritional value of products, we are striving to strengthen the nutrition identity of our products by establishing nutrition management standards and supporting nutrition design in accordance with the life cycle and product concept.
